RESERVATIONS

The following items are required:

  • Valid driver’s license in Japan
  • Passport
  • Credit card

The driver’s license from your home country alone does not allow you to drive in Japan. Please see here for information about valid driver’s licenses in Japan.
If you do not have a valid license, we cannot lease a car to you. Please make sure to bring it with you on the day of your rental.

You can make a reservation online up to 24 hours before the pick-up time, but cars may be fully booked. To secure a rental, please make a reservation as soon as you make a final decision on your rental details.

Yes. The following periods are especially busy due to the holiday season in Japan. We recommend early reservations.

  • Late April to Early May
  • Mid-August
  • End of the year and beginning of the new year

Online reservations are available from 3 months before the pick-up date.

You can return your rental car to a different place (between Kansai Airport & Osaka City only), than where you rented it, by using our Delivery Service.

We will send you a payment link via email, and you can make the payment using a credit card.

Sorry, we only accept credit card.

In addition to the person who made the reservation, travelling companions can also drive. Please show the valid driver’s license and passport of all drivers.
No surcharge is required for additional drivers.

If you would like to change the date, pick-up location or car, it can be modified up to 48 hours before the pick-up time. Please e-mail or message us.

Your reservation can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the pick-up time.
Please note that the prescribed cancellation charges will be charged in case of cancellation.

PAYMENT & DISCOUNTS

The daily rate (basic car rental charge) is calculated based on the scheduled rental days. Please see the rate listed in each vehicle’s page.

Additional costs to the daily rate include insurance or requested extra options. Depending on the return location, a delivery service fee may apply if you wish to pick up or return a car outside of our shop. For more details, please see the following pages.

Amaze Auto offers a discount when you use a discount code during your inquiry or booking.

Amaze Auto will place a hold on your debit or credit card at the time of rental up to 100,000 yen. Be aware that a debit card hold limits the amount of funds available in the account associated with your card.

ACCESSORIES & OPTIONS

The following amount will be paid as compensation for unexpected accidents. This insurance and compensation system is included in the hourly rate.

Bodily injury Unlimited per person (including automobile liability insurance)
Property damage Unlimited per accident [cost of JPY 100,000 covered by customer (deductible)]
Car damage Up to the actual value per accident[cost of JPY 100,000 covered by customer (deductible); JPY 100,000 for buses and large size trucks]
Physical disability Up to JPY 30,000,000 per person*
  • Compensation will be paid for injuries to passengers (including death and residual disability) regardless of the degree of the driver’s responsibility (up to JPY 30,000,000: the amount of damage will be calculated by the insurance company based on the insurance clause).

There are no mileage limits or additional charges. You can drive as long a distance as you like!

Car navigation systems are standard equipment on All passenger cars (including station wagons and SUV) (except for some models and regions).

Car navigation systems with English, Chinese or Korean audio are available (some information is displayed in Japanese only). Please select the language of your preference when you make an online reservation.
Please note that we may not be able to fulfill your request.

ETC cards can be requested at the time of your online reservation.
ETC card rental is free, but Expressway tolls are not included in this fee.

If you are returning the vehicle anywhere other than our office, we will check the ETC highway toll fees at our shop later. We will then send you the details of the highway fees and deduct them from your deposit. The deposit will be refunded within 4weeks after you return the vehicle.

Please note that we will charge 4% as a credit card payment fee from the toll fees.

 

You can drive on expressways (toll-ways) without an ETC card, but you cannot drive in an ETC lane when passing through tollgates.
Please drive in a “一般 (General)” lane.

It starts to snow in some areas of Japan from September. Please use the winter tires or snow chains when you travel to areas with snowfall in winter. Winter tires or snow chains are standard equipment at some shops while they are an option that requires advance reservation at other shops. For details, please contact us.

Winter tires are available for online reservation during the winter season. If you wish to rent snow chains, please make your request using the email address or telephone number shown on the reservation completion screen. Although the starting period for reservations varies by shop, the typical start is from around October or November.

WHEN USING THE CAR

It is possible, but we may not be able to allow extension due to the demand of other reservations. When you wish to extend the rental hours, please contact us as soon as possible.

You can pay the fee for extra hours when returning your rental car. Please note that a prescribed penalty will be charged if you exceed your scheduled rental hours without notifying us in advance. If you wish to rent a car longer, please make sure to inform us.

The balance between the fee for actual rental hours and the estimated amount you paid at the time of pick-up will be charged.

There are times when it is possible, but it may not be possible due to the demand of other reservations. When you wish to change the return shop, please contact us as soon as possible.

In the event of an accident, please handle the situation in the following steps:

  1. Get help for anyone injured.
  2. Call the police (dial 110), and receive the accident report.
  3. Contact us

English speaking staff is available between 11:00 and 17:00 every day. For accidents outside the business hours of the Reservation Center or your pick-up shop, please contact the emergency number which we show you at the time of pick-up.

In the event of a car-breakdown, please contact us. English speaking staff is available between 8:00 and 20:00 every day. We will show you the follow-up procedure after hearing the situation.

Traveling with a pet is possible with some conditions.
Please note that a reservation is necessary when traveling with a pet.
Put the pet in a cage and lay the designated sheet under the cage.

Conditions (Instructions for Users)
  1. Please inform you are “traveling with a pet” when making the reservation.
  2. Please put your pet inside a cage of 70cm x 90cm x 75cm when inside the car. (Cage has to be arranged by the customer)
  3. Please put the cage in the luggage space.
  4. Please lay a sheet assigned by Amaze Auto under the cage. (Picnic sheets are sold at the store for 550 yen / 1 piece (tax included 10%)
  5. Please sign the “consent form”
  6. Traveling with a pet will not be allowed if the requests 1 – 5 above are not met.
Applicable Non-Operation Charge (NOC) If the car needs to be repaired due to a significat odor, fouling or damage, a Non-Operation Charge (NOC) will be charged.
  • The rules above do not apply to helper dogs (service dog, guide dog, hearing assistance dog).
  • We have the consent form at the store. Please sign it at the store.

Amaze Auto prohibits all types of smoking in its cars, including vaping. In keeping with this policy, if a car comes back to us smelling of any type of smoke, including e-cigarette vapors, we will assess a cleaning fee. 

Each vehicle is checked for cleanliness before it goes out to its renter. When it returns, we conduct an inspection to assess the vehicle’s overall cleanliness. If any physical evidence of smoking is found (ash/butts in the vehicle, cigarette burns, etc.), or if a smoky odor exists, renters will be assessed a fee.

In most cases, the cleanliness inspection takes place when the car is returned so the Return Agent can inform customers right away if a cleaning fee will be assessed. However, in some circumstances, the Return Agent may not be able to notify the customer of a possible fee at the time of vehicle return, such as when:

  • The customer leaves the return area before the Return Agent completes the inspection.

  • A Return Agent is unavailable when the car is returned.

  • The car is returned after hours.

In such cases, customers are notified via mail that the cleaning fee has been charged to their credit card.

In the event of a car accident, car theft, car breakdown or stains/damage to the car, if the car needs to be repaired and/or cleaned, the fees below will be charged as compensation for business interruption for that period.

Able to be driven (Driven back to the scheduled shop): JPY 40,000

Unable to be driven (Not driven back to the scheduled shop: JPY100,000

Note: If the car is able to be driven but is not returned to the shop (left on the road, etc.), JPY 100,000 is charged.
